Tube motor roller shutters work by rolling or sliding up and down a set of tracks which are set on either side of the door curtain, which are sometimes often known as guide channels. The door rolls up around the tube which is fitted above the door and in the case of tube motor roller shutters, this tube is also what is running the operation, using electricity to move the door up and down. Compared to chain-driven motors, these doors offer quieter installations and typically suffer less wear and tear due to the reduced number of working parts inside the system. Our tube motor roller shutters have a number of vital components that make them secure, safe and convenient.
Tubular Motor
Responsible for the movement of the door, this electrical tubular motor is found in the overhead barrel assembly and has a motor-head which includes a manual override eye sticking out from it in the case of emergencies. There is also an electrical wire feed and limit switches which can manage the travel space of the shutter curtain and an Associate which is the operational brake system which keeps the shutter stationary once it is in the position.
Safety Brake
All of our tube motor roller shutters come with a safety brake in case the mechanism fails to prevent the door from falling onto anyone or anything below. This will automatically activate should motor failure occur. Once it is activated it will need to be replaced or reset by an industrial door engineer like ourselves.
